چکیده

We have studied the position dependence of neutrino energy on the Kusenko-Segrè mechanism as an explanation of the proper motion of pulsars. The mechanism is also examined in three-generation mixing of neutrinos and in a non-adiabatic case. The position dependence of neutrino energy requires the higher value of magnetic field such as B ∼ 3 × 10 15 Gauss in order to explain the observed proper motion of pulsars. It is shown that possible non-adiabatic processes decrease the neutrino momentum asymmetry, whereas an excess of electron neutrino flux over other flavor neutrino fluxes increases the neutrino momentum asymmetry. It is also shown that a general treatment with all three neutrinos does not modify the result of the two generation treatment if the standard neutrino mass hierarchy is assumed.

Neutral current induced neutrino oscillations in a supernova

Neutral currents induced matter oscillations of electroweak-active (anti-)neutrinos to sterile neutrinos can explain the observed motion of pulsars. In contrast to a recently proposed explanation of the pulsar birth velocities based on the νμ,τ ↔ νe oscillations, the heaviest neutrino (either active or sterile) would have to have mass of order several keV. ∗ email address: [email protected] ...

Neutrino oscillations in magnetized media and implications for the pulsar velocity puzzle

The effect of media on the propagation of neutrinos is nowadays a well established research subject . Among the several relevant implications of this subject for particle physics and astrophysics, perhaps the most remarkable application was the discovery of the possibility to have neutrino resonant oscillations in the matter (MSW) and the study of the possible role that this effect may play to ...

Effects of CPT and Lorentz Invariance Violation on Pulsar Kicks

The breakdown of Lorentz’s and CPT invariance, as described by the Extension of the Standard Model, gives rise to a modification of the dispersion relation of particles. Consequences of such a modification are reviewed in the framework of pulsar kicks induced by neutrino oscillations (activesterile conversion). A peculiar feature of the modified energy-momentum relations is the occurrence of te...

Further studies on relic neutrino asymmetry generation I : the adiabatic Boltzmann limit , non - adiabatic evolution , and the classical harmonic oscillator analogue of the quantum kinetic equations

We demonstrate that the relic neutrino asymmetry evolution equation derived from the quantum kinetic equations (QKEs) reduces to the Boltzmann limit that is dependent only on the instantaneous neutrino number densities, in the adiabatic limit in conjunction with sufficient damping. An original physical and/or geometrical interpretation of the adiabatic approximation is given, which serves as a ...

The MSW effect and Matter Effects in Neutrino Oscillations

The MSW (Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein) effect is the adiabatic or partially adiabatic neutrino flavor conversion in medium with varying density. The main notions related to the effect, its dynamics and physical picture are reviewed. The large mixing MSW effect is realized inside the Sun providing the solution of the solar neutrino problem. The small mixing MSW effect driven by the 1-3 mixing ca...
